Dr. Marie “Meezie” Hermansen was born in Soldotna and raised in Cohoe. She grew up in her family’s commercial fishing set-net site, where she still spends her days off in the summer as well as her vacation time. Dr. Hermansen graduated from SoHi, earned a bachelor’s degree from Pacific University in Oregon, and graduated from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.
