After high school he joined the Florida Army National Guard and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004. Upon returning home he attended Florida Atlantic University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Psychobiology. He received his doctorate of veterinary medicine from North Carolina State University College Of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.
